Board Game Bonanza

I almost couldn't believe it myself, the other day, Tessa wanted to play a board game. Since playing that first board game, she wanted to play all of her board games. So we played all of them all in a row; I think she has 5 of them or so. We had tried playing her board games when she first got them last Christmas and she wasn't interested in them. Then all of a sudden she loves playing them. Every day now we'll play her of her games some of them a couple of times and it has been really fun!

14 Month Old Jenny

I absolutely cannot believe how fast Jenny has been developing these last few months. I still think of her as my baby but she certainly hasn't been acting like a baby lately. She is independent, silly, smart, and just her own little person for sure.

Language development in particular has been amazing. David and I have been so shocked to see her language skills advance so rapidly these last few weeks. She says a few new words everyday. The other day we were eating popcorn at the Thanksgiving Point Farm and her new word was popcorn to ask for some. She would walk up to me and say "pop-pop". It was so cute. Then she can copy word that you say to her and ask her to say. The other day I was telling her, "Your name is Jennifer Jane - JJ" and she repeated back to me "JJ". She can actually converse a little too. I can find out if she is hungry and what she wants to eat by just asking her yes/no questions that she responds to. This cracked me up; the other night I asked her if she was ready for bed and she said "no"; (like all kids though - she told me no even though she was actually tired and ready for bed). Then the other day after climbing up on a little chair, she was so proud of her self and smiling she held her hands up in the air and I'm pretty sure I heard her say, "I did it."

Her favorite toys now a days are probably cars. She likes the more realistic looking cars best. She likes playing with these realistic looking pull back cars as well as matchbox cars. She'll drive them all around the living room across the coffee table and tv and then around to across the couch and floor. She'll even make a "vrmm" type sound affect when playing with them. It is really cute.

One of her favorite activities is going on walks. She loves to find everyone's shoes and bring them to them to say that she wants to go on a walk. David and I have had to start spelling out "W-A-L-K" to each other to ask each other if we want to go on a walk as we can't say the word "walk" with out Jenny getting really excited and getting her heart set on going.

Jenny loves to be read to now. Her favorite book is "Moo, Ba, La, La, La". She will bring it up to you and say "la la la" to ask you to read it to her. The book goes "The cow says moo" and Jenny will say "moo"; then it says "The sheep says baa" and Jenny will say "baa", and then it reads "And three dancing pigs say "la la la" and Jenny will say "la la la". It is really cute. Then there is also a duck toward the end and Jenny will go nuts saying "duck, duck, duck" and pointing at it.

The girls like to play this game where they dress up and dance. Tessa will plie and do "first position" by crossing her legs and pointing her toes while Jenny will dance by stomping her feet or twirling in a circle a couple of times usually until becoming dizzy and falling down.

She is so much getting to be my big girl. I love seeing her grow and develop, but it just crazy to me how fast she is growing up now.

Blown Away

I am blown away by this little girl. She is only 14 months and already she is saying several new words everyday.

I've been learning Spanish lately and the other day, when talking to Jenny, I told her that in Spanish, Dada is Papi. Then she said "Dada Papa." I was amazed! She's not only saying new words daily, she's also learning words in Spanish!

Our Little Talker

Since my last post, Jenny has learned even more words. She says "mom" and "dada" to the appropriate parent, says "bye-bye" while waving goodbye when people leave, and says "yeah" while nodding her head and she can shake her head no. Then she's also learned the sign for treat and she's used it correctly - asking for candy. She has also learned to say "duck". Random, I know, but she started saying it when we went to Highland Glen park and fed the ducks and now she says it when playing with the rubber ducky in the bathtub. It's so cute and way fun to be able to interact with Jenny more and more.
